Welcome Stallion Families!
Our theme for the 2022-2023 school year is "Adventure Awaits!" Just like each of you, we have high-hopes for our students as we prepare them for futures beyond our imagination!
First Day of School
We love sharing the excitement of a new year with you all. Parents may walk students to their classrooms on the first day of school- Wednesday, August 10. Beginning the second day of school, we ask that students (grades 1-5) enter independently to practice their regular morning routines. Pre-K and Kindergarten students may be escorted by parents to their classrooms the first three days of school, but it is not required. There will be additional staff on hand all week to assist students to help them find their way.
Lunch Visitors:
The cafeteria will open to lunch visitors on Monday, August 26. This allows our students and teachers time to establish cafeteria routines and expectations. In addition to a time to eat, lunch is also a time for students to grow their communication skills and independence. We encourage students to engage in conversation with their peers at lunchtime and take responsibility for their needs. Designated visitor tables are located in the center of the cafeteria to accommodate any students that have lunch visitors on that day. We appreciate your understanding of the visitor timeframe and respecting the designated visitor seating areas.
Absences
Please communicate with your child's classroom teacher(s) when they are going to be absent. When a student is absent, the student must submit a not within five days of returning. Please submit a doctor's note after any appointments that occur during the school day. Absent notes may be sent to: AttendanceWSE@fortbendisd.com.
Arrival
In order to avoid a tardy arrival, we request that you drop your student off to school no later than 8:00am each morning. Teachers will be on duty to supervise students at 7:30am daily when the doors open. No supervision is available before 7:30am. Students will remain in the hallways or cafeteria from 7:30-8:00am. Breakfast will be available for purchase in the cafeteria at this time. Students will report to their classrooms at 8:00am, and the tardy bell will ring at 8:10am. If a student arrives after 8:10am, the student must report to the front office to receive a tardy slip. All exterior doors are locked at 8:10am except for the front door to the school. Students must enter the school through the main doors once the 8:10am bell rings. After the first week of school, please DO NOT park in the parking lot to walk your student in to school. This is a safety hazard and causes disruption to the drop-off line. All cars should drop students off via the drop-off line and pull all the way forward to allow more cars to pull in behind you.
Dismissal
Students dismiss a variety of ways (walk, bike, car rider, day care and bus), so it is crucial that the dismissal is systematic and organized to ensure the safety of all involved. Parents will indicate a dismissal plan with the teacher at the beginning of the school year. In order to adequately prepare for dismissal, students may not be checked out of the school after 2:55pm. All students MUST be picked-up by 3:35pm. There is no supervision for students after that time.
Walkers/ Bike Riders
The bike racks are designated meeting places for parents and older siblings to meet before going home. Walking/biking is the fastest and most convenient way for your child to depart from school. Parents should meet students at the bike rack. Do not block the campus exits. There are three designated bike racks indicated by color. Your path home will determine which colored bike rack is your meeting point.
-
Blue is located in front of the school on Homeward Way. This is the meeting point for families exiting by traveling west on Homeward Way. If your student needs to cross the street on Homeward Way, they should use the Yellow bike rack n order to cross with the crossing guard located at Walker School Road.
-
Yellow is located on the side of the school at the corner of Homeward Way and Walker School Road. This is for families exiting by using the crossing guard on the corner.
-
Green is located behind the school next to the playground. This is for families exiting by traveling south on Walker School Road.
-
Crossing Guard Notes: There are two crossing guards by our school to help students arrive and dismiss safely. The students coming from Ellis Creek Blvd. and Homeward Way will cross Walker School Road and/or Homeward Way to reach the other side. Students will also have a crossing guard at the intersection of Clarenda Falls Drive and Walker School Road. Please note that the bridge on Homeward Way is NOT a crosswalk. Please use the crossing guard at Walker School Road for assistance.

Car Riders
All families are assigned a dismissal number regardless of their dismissal plan. For car rider students, numbers 1-499 (blue) will use the front dive located on Homeward Way. Numbers 500-899 (yellow) will use the side drive located on Walker School Road for pick-up. A staff member will escort students to their pick-up location. Parents will display the dismissal number on the vehicle front dashboard. Staff members on duty will call the students to exit the building based on their assigned dismissal number. Parents must stay in one lane and wait for the car in front of them to exit. Pulling around a car in the pick-up line is dangerous for our students and staff on duty.
Bus
Students will be escorted to the bus lane by teachers and load the buses at 3:25pm. Questions regarding bus transportation should be directed to the FBISD Transportation Department at (281) 624-4077.
Day Care
Parents may make arrangements for a private day care to pick up students regularly. The name and contact information for that day care must be indicated on the original dismissal plan.
Extended Day
Students remaining on campus for Extended Day will be escorted to the Extended Day room. Questions about this program should be directed to the Extended Day office at (281) 634-4412.
Severe Weather Dismissal Plan
A severe weather dismissal will be called if severe weather (high winds, tornado, lightning, etc.) is present at 2:55pm. For the safety of our students, no walkers or bike riders will be allowed on these days. Walkers and bikers will follow their severe weather plan developed by their parents and given in writing to their homeroom teacher. Students will dismiss regularly in rain as long as no severe weather is present.
Please make sure your contact information is updated and accurate via BlackBoard Connect to receive communication updates from Mrs. Kargbo.
